Illicit country liquor seized at the labour quarters of Naharkotia Tea Estate

Naharkotiya: Naharkotiya Police and para military team headed by ASI Pradip Gogoi recovered around 150 litres of illicit country liquor (sulai) during search operation conducted at the labour quarters of Naharkotia Tea Estate on Sunday. The team also seized a large number of equipment used to prepare illicit country liquor. Later, police sources claimed that they had destroyed the seized liquor and other ingredients require for preparation of sulai.

The local citizens, while appreciating police action against spurious liquor trade at the tea estate, a need of the hour following recent tragedy at Halmira Tea Estate and other places like Titabor, Merapani and its adjoining regions, also hoped that they should continue their drive uninterrupted, not only in the tea estate but also in the town area.
