Implementation of centrally-sponsored schemes in Sonitpur reviewed by Pallab Lochan Das

Tezpur: A meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday. Member of Parliament, Tezpur HPC, Pallab Lochan Das and chairman of the DISHA committee, presided over the meeting and reviewed the implementation of all the centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in the district in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Narsing Pawar, MLA of Sootea LAC, Padma Hazarika, MLA of Borsola, Ganesh Limboo, MLA of Dhekiajuli, Ashok Singhal and chairperson and Sonitpur Zilla Parishad, Dolly Surin.

Reviewing the various stages of scheme implementation, the MP directed the departments to take immediate steps to expedite the execution process of these schemes and to ensure early completion of all the targets. He also directed all the departments to submit action taken reports in this regard for the next quarterly meeting of DISHA committee at least a week ahead of the date fixed for the meeting. The meeting also resolved to hold a separate meeting with the representatives of various banks in order to improve the number of sponsorships under various government-sponsored schemes, especially to unemployed youths, and roll out benefits of various social security schemes launched by the Government of India.

Progress of MGNREGA, IAY, PMAY-G, DDU-GKY, NRLM, PMGSY, NSAP, SBM-G, among others were discussed in the meeting. The Member of Parliament laid special stress on early completion of the works on the National Highways and asked the departmental officials to initiate action against any defaulting contractors. He also asked all departments to work together and seek coordinated solutions to remove any hurdles in the path of implementation of these schemes so that the development benefits reach the poor people.

The meeting also decided to form a separate sub-committee to look into all schemes related to livelihood enhancement and asked all department officials concerned to be pro-active and submit innovative ideas and proposals LAC-wise to the Deputy Commissioner before the next DISHA meeting.
