
From Nalbari, Assam, a teenage cricket star has emerged and is sweeping the cricket globe. In an under-13 club tournament, 13-year-old Janmoy Rajbongshi made history by hammering 42 sixes and 31 fours to score an incredible 430 runs off just 141 balls.
In a match that is now the talk of Assam, Janmoy, playing for Nalbari Gordon Cricket Academy, let loose his wrath on the Rhineland Club, Guwahati bowlers.
Janmoy got off to a fast start in his innings, reaching his century in just 31 balls, 200 in 66 balls, 300 in 98, and the 400-run milestone in just 131 balls. His side was suffering at 130/4 when the young batter's innings came, but with amazing strokeplay, he turned the tide on his own.
Nalbari Gordon Cricket Academy scored an incredible 567 runs in 35 overs because of his genius. Rhineland Club responded by giving way under duress and being bowled out for a just 36 runs in nine overs. In the ensuing confusion, six players were run out and none of their batters hit double digits.
Janmoy hails from the Nalbari district's Alliya (Bongaon) village. He is the younger son of Madhavi Rajbongshi and Niranjan Rajbongshi, a local businessman. Coaches Maheshwar Haloi and Manoj Kumar Bayan of Barpeta are training a youngster from Bapuji Primary School in Nalbari, Janmoy.
