Inaugural function of Charingia Puranimelia MV School's year-long centenary celebration in Sivasagar

GAURISAGAR: Charingia Puranimelia MV School, one of the premier educational institutes of greater Jhanji Phulpanichiga area in Sivasagar district, completed glorious 100 years in the current year. The school fraternity, in association with the school managing committee, alumni and mothers' group and local people, organized the inaugural function of its year-long centenary festival.

The day-long programme started with hoisting of flag by Sarukon Gogoi, president of the school centenary celebration committee, followed by smriti tarpan initiated by Kukheswar Gogoi, social worker and former SMC president. Later, Noren Baruah, former Headmaster of the school, performed plantation sapling. Thereafter, on completion of 100 years of the school, 100 leading persons across the greater Phulpanichiga, Jamuguri, Jhanji, Charing and Gaurisagar areas lit symbolic 100 earthen lamps. Later, an open session was held. Dr Manjit Gogoi, Principal of Jhanji Hem Nath Sarmah (HNS) College chaired it.

Dr Jyoti Prasad Saikia, Professor of Dibrugarh University, Department of Sociology, took part as an appointed speaker. In his speech, he urged the public to get involved with educational institutions to create a conducive environment for sustainable development of education.

In the meeting, Dr Utpal Sarmah, Assistant Professor of Sibsagar College, and Dr Jibon Kalita, Associate Professor of Nazira College, took part as distinguished guests and delivered a lecture on the present education system and the role of public towards the promotion of the institutions.
