Independent MLA Akhil Gogoi Suspended From House For Disturbing Governor's Speech

Guwahati: Raijor Dal Chief Akhil Gogoi was suspended on Monday from Assam Assembly for disturbing Governor Jagdish Mukhi's speech on the first day of the Budget session.

According to reports, the Sivasagar MLA was raising the issue of employment to one lakh youths as promised by the BJP government during the address of Governor Jagdish Mukhi.

Following the interruption, speaker Biswajit Daimary asked the Gogoi to leave the house for the duration of the Governor's speech.

However, he didn't leave the house and showed a placard following which Marshals dragged him outside.

Commenting on the same, the independent MLA criticizes the Governor's speech in the house.

''His (Governor) speech was very disappointing with no clear policies and programmes. Apart from regular functioning of the government there is no declaration about issues related to the people of Assam,'' he added.

Meanwhile, Mukhi in his speech asserted that the state government has set in motion the process to provide one lakh jobs to youths.

Later, he also mentioned several steps being taken by the state government to recruit youths in various posts.
