Indian Air Force run ends at Kohima War Cemetery

GUWAHATI: The “Kargil to Kohima (K2K) Glory Run” – a marathon undertaken by air warriors of the Indian Air Force from the Kargil War Memorial in Drass on September 21 – culminated at the Kohima War Cemetery in Kohima on Wednesday. The event was undertaken by the IAF as a part of the ongoing celebrations to commemorate the completion of 20 glorious years of victory during the Kargil War.

During the span of 45 days, the air warriors, who were part of the team, traveled a distance of more than 4,500 km through the States of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, and Nagaland. Nagaland Governor RN Ravi was the chief guest for the ceremony. The team was received by Air Marshal RD Mathur, AOC-in-C Eastern Air Command.

As a part of the expedition, the marathon team paid tributes to all the bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil war. The air warriors also interacted with students of schools and colleges en-route to promote awareness for pedestrian safety, Swachh Bharat and Swasth Bharat. The team comprising 25 air warriors was led by Squadron Leader Suresh Razdan. The air warriors displayed the highest levels of endurance, willpower, and teamwork under extreme climatic conditions to safely achieve the desired goal.
