Indian Army jawans rescue woman from drowning in Barpeta

PATHSALA: Two Indian Army jawans rescued a woman from drowning in a river in lower Assam’s Barpeta district on Sunday. On being informed that a woman had jumped into the river from a bridge near the Patbausi village in Barpeta district on Sunday, Subedar Ram and Havildar Ashok Bhakar of the Jat Regiment rushed to the spot.

Without wasting any time they jumped into the river and within a short period rescued the woman who struggled for life. The woman was first spotted by a local resident who immediately sought the help of the Army personnel and they immediately responded to the rescue call.

An eyewitness said, “A woman jumped from the bridge and we immediately alerted the army camp. The Army personnel immediately rushed to the spot, started the rescue operation and saved the woman. There were many villagers who saw the woman in the river but no one tried to rescue her. Later, a video of the jawans rescuing the woman was shared on social media and it became viral.
