GUWAHATI: In an important step, the Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army and IIT Guwahati have signed an agreement to work together on creating epoxy bamboo-based composites. These materials are meant to replace the traditional building materials used for making bunkers in high-altitude areas.

The project will result in the construction of several defense structures in high-altitude areas for testing. These structures will be tested with small-arms fire and exposed to all types of weather. The panels made for these structures will provide the same protection but will be lighter, making it easier and faster to transport supplies, which will help preserve the forces.

The MoU was signed in front of Major General Rohin Bawa, YSM, GOC of the Red Horns Division, and Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati. This project is an important step toward strengthening the Indian Army, aligning with the Chief of the Army Staff's "Decade of Transformation" plan.

Signing this MoU marks an important step in innovation and teamwork, setting new standards for cooperation between government research institutions and military schools to drive technological growth. The partnership between Gajraj Corps and IIT Guwahati is more than just an agreement; it shows a shared commitment to exploring new technologies and addressing the challenges of today's battlefield.

The General Officer highlighted the Indian Army's efforts to use advanced technologies and stressed how important the MoU is for developing solutions that can be used in the field. He also pointed out the importance of working together with academics, industries, researchers, and start-ups to support a national approach and expressed confidence that this partnership will lead to major achievements, boosting the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
