
DIMA HASAO: In response to an urgent call for help, the Indian Navy has mobilized a specialized team to assist in the rescue of miners trapped in Umrangso, located in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.
A team comprising one officer and eleven sailors, including trained Clearance Divers, has been dispatched to the site. The team arrived on January 7, 2025, following a coordinated airlift by the Indian Air Force.
The Navy team is armed with the most up-to-date equipment for deep-water operation, such as underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and advanced diving gear.
They will be useful in finding and rescuing the miners who are trapped. The Clearance Divers have deep depth diving and recovery expertise to guarantee the success of the mission.
The rescue work is being executed in close collaboration with several agencies, such as the Indian Army, National Disaster Response Force, and local civil administration. As a result of regular communication by all parties concerned, it was a smooth, effective operation whereby each agency kept contributing to efforts.
As search and rescue operations continue, the Indian Navy continues to be at the forefront of providing immediate help in times of crisis. The speed of the Navy's deployment speaks to its preparedness and determination to safeguard lives during emergencies, thus reiterating its role as a major participant in national disaster response efforts.
