LAKHIMPUR: The Induction Programme for the inauguration of the Ph.D Programme in the Department of Education, Department of Botany and Department of English of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), the first autonomous college in the north-east region, was held on Tuesday in a befitting manner.

The event was chaired by Dr Biman Chandra Chetia, the Principal of the college, while the objective of the programme was explained by Dr Binda Sah, Assistant Professor of the Department of English. Prominent academician Dr Mukunda Rajbanshi, who is also the president of the governing body of the college, attended the programme as guest of honour. Dr Rajbanshi delivered his lecture on innovative research process by thinking critically and analytically. Dr Chandra Manche, Controller of Examination of the college, explained about assessment of research activities, research ethics while Librarian Nizara Gogoi shared her thoughts on the use of library materials in research works.

Dr Diganta Hatiboruah, Head of the Department of Political Science, threw light on necessary tips in research process. Dr Kamala Kanta Bori, Head of the Department English shared his experiences on research. On the other hand, Dr Ishmirekha Handique Konwar, the Chairperson of Research Council, Department of Education, highlighted the trends in research process in addition to forwarding her special gratitude on behalf of all the departments to the resourceful speakers of the event for their informative lectures that enlightened the entire programme.

Dr. Achintya Kumar Saikia, Dr. Dharitri Borgohain, Dr. Binod Chetia, Dr Buddhadeva Basumatary, Dr Ratan Das along with other faculty members from PG Departments of the college attended the programme. In the same programme, warm welcome was accorded to the research scholars of the first batch of the Ph.D Programme. Notably, the noted college has launched Ph.D programme in five academic departments till date, including Assamese, English, Education, Botani and English.
