NUMALIGARH: Amidst the lockdown, incidents of sighting of wild animals in dense human populated areas is not a new thing nowadays. A similar incident happened in Bihora tea estate, under Numaligarh forest beat of Golaghat forest division on Friday night. A slow loris was seen in Bihora tea estate at Numaligarh. People from the nearby areas gathered in large numbers to get a glimpse of the rarely seen slow loris (Lajuki Bandar).

People followed the mammal while it tried to escape the scene. The slow loris was electrocuted when it was hanging on an electric line. The slow loris fell on the ground after getting a mild electric shock. Villagers ran to help the poor mammal but one villager was bitten by the slow loris when he tried to pick it up from the ground. Later, foresters reached the spot and rescued the injured slow loris. When its condition was stable, it was released in Deopahar reserve forest by the foresters. One slow loris was also recovered in a village near Morangi in Numaligarh a week ago.
