KOKRAJHAR: A launch programme for Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDF project) was held on June 10 at Debitola community Hall, Porbhatjhora subdivision in Kokrajhar, in the presence of Lawrence Islary, MLA of Kokrajhar East (ST) LAC, Ghanashyam Das, EM, BTC, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Horticulture, Naveen Dhingra, CGM, NABARD, Assam RO, Ansumai Basumatary, and other dignitaries. The programme was held so as to coincide with ICONIC week (June 6 to June 12, 2022 ) of the Government of India under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Speaking on the occasion, Lawrence Islary, MLA of Kokrajhar East (ST) LAC, thanked NABARD for undertaking such big projects in the Debitola block of Kokrajhar district. Addressing the gathering, Ghanashyam Das, EM, BTC, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Horticulture, said the beneficiaries of the project should take good care of the plantations so that they get good income in the future.

Naveen Dhingra, CGM, NABARD, Assam RO, said that the project would benefit 200 women in four villages under Debitola Block of Kokrajhar district. He said the project was sanctioned to SeSTA (NGO) with financial assistance of Rs 1.43 crore to be implemented over a period of five years. He said that the project envisages cultivation of horticulture crops, animal husbandry, fishery, soil conservation, water resource management, community health and women development. He also said that the project would go a long way in uplifting the economic status of the women in the project area.

Other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion of ICONIC Week under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Products made by SHGs were displayed at the venue and traditional dance representing Rabha and Garo tribes were presented by the villagers. The event was also livestreamed for the benefit of general public.
