International Day against Drug Abuse celebrated in LGBRIMH, Tezpur

TEZPUR: The Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), Tezpur, celebrated the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Monday in the auditorium of the institute. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present in the dais and was followed by the felicitation of the dignitaries. The welcome address of the programme was delivered by Dr. Hemanta Dutta, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and I/C Department of Addiction Medicine, LGBRIMH, Tezpur.

Chatra Bhusan Gogoi, District and Session Judge cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur, Tezpur graced the occasion as a chief guest, Deba Kumar Mishra, Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur was the guest of honour of the programme. Dr. S. K. Deuri, Director, LGBRIMH, Tezpur presided the meeting.

The Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) Clinic at the Department of Addiction Medicine, LGBRIMH, Tezpur was inaugurated during the programme. Chatra Bhusan Gogoi, District and Session Judge cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur, Tezpur in his speech emphasized the need of mental health care for the drug abuse patients and also recognized the role played by the institute for the mental health care.
