International Day of Yoga observed across State

TINSUKIA, June 22: Along with rest of the country, the 4th International Yoga Day was observed in almost all educational institutions in Tinsukia. The Tinsukia district administration organized a centralized programme at Manab Kalyan Prarthona Bhavan in association with Patanjali in which a large number of people from all walks of life, including officials of district administration headed by Oinam Sarankumar Singh, Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner, participated in the programme, while an elaborate programme was held at Tinsukia College being assisted by Nehru Yaba Kendra and NCC. In Women’s College, the programme was coordinated by Dr Nitu Paul where 250 students participated under the guidance of four members of Patanjali.

Tezpur: The International Yoga Day was celebrated by Sonitpur district administration in collaboration with Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Sonitpur, at Church Field in order to promote yoga and endeavour towards making it a part and parcel of everyone’s daily routine. State Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta, while inaugurating the programme in the presence of Monoj Kumar Deka, Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner, said that yoga was applied science, a systematized collection of laws applied to bring about a definite end. It takes up the laws of psychology, applicable to the unfolding of the whole consciousness of man. “This rational application of the laws of unfolding consciousness acts exactly on the same principles that you see applied around you every day in other departments of science,” Mahanta added. The programme was also attended nearly thousands of people, including ADC of Sonitpur, various NGOs, students of schools and colleges, staff of State Government offices among others. On the other hand, a major event was organized here at Missamari in Sonitpur District Military Station with enthusiastic participants exceeding 1,000 in number. Members of the civil community were also invited to join in the celebration and practice yoga. Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande, Defence PRO, Tezpur, said these yoga sessions were aimed at encouraging the Army personnel and their families to translate the practices of yoga.

HOJAI: The Hojai district administration observed 4th International Yoga Day at Hojai Indoor Stadium where college as well as school students, police personnel, NGO members, people and media persons participated. The function was started with lighting the lamp by Mavendra Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Hojai.

DEMOW: The Sonapur Social Development Society, an NGO, observed the International Day of Yoga near Demow in Kharahat LP School and Athabari Tea Estate LP School on Thursday. The yoga practice was done under the guidance of a yoga instructor. School students, employees of Sonapur Social Development Society and people from all walks of life were present.

Kokrajhar: The deputy chief of BTC Kampa Borgoyary, while participating in the 4th International Day of Yoga programme held under the aegis of Kokrajhar district administration and Kokrajhar Patanjali Yogpith at Kokrajhar District Sports Association indoor stadium, called upon people to embrace yoga as an integral part of daily life. Borgoyary, while attending the yoga programme as chief guest, said yoga could reduce physical ailments. He said the council had decided to allot land measuring 750 bighas in Kumarikha area of Baksa district to set up a yoga centre and production of food processing.

The rally on the occasion of International Yoga Day was flagged off by BTC EM of Sports and Youth Welfare, Doneswar Goyary and the camp was also attended by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Niranjan Baruah, Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh and others.

On the other hand, International Day of Yoga was observed at the premises of Frontier Headquarters, Sashastra Seema Bal, Tezpur., KC Vikram, DIG, officers and hundreds of SSB personnel braved the inclement weather and took part in the event.

LAKHIMPUR: The 4th International Day of Yoga was celebrated in Lakhimpur by the district administration, schools and colleges, various organizations and institutions following the Common Yoga Protocol instructed by the Ministry of AYUSH. The district administration observed the day at Basudev Kalyan Trust in collaboration with District Health Society, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Krira Bharati. The agenda of the event began with the lighting of ceremonial lamps by minister Ranjit Dutta, Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan. The day was observed by Lakhimpur Commerce College, Indira Gandhi High School.

DHUBRI: Along with rest of the country, International Yoga Day was also observed in Dhubri at 67 Bn and 110 Bn BSF camps at Panbari of Dhubri district on Thursday. A large number of BSF jawans participated in the camp and practised different postures of yoga under the five instructors of Patanjali Yogapeeth of Gauripur at 67 Bn BSF camp under the leadership of Madhusudan Sil. Nearly 800 jawans, including all the officers of the battalion, joined the camp and took part in the yoga practice. In 110 Bn BSF camp at Panbari, altogether 587 jawans and officers took part and practised yoga.

At the end of yoga camp, all the participants took pledge to practice and adopt its practices as part of life. The pledge was administered by Commandant of 110 Bn BSF, Jatashankar Singh Chouhan. Yoga camps were organized in all the Border OutPosts (BOPs) along the border. Apart from this, State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury inaugurated the yoga camp at Dhubri Police Reserve Community Hall.

GOLAGHAT: The NSS unit of Don Bosco College, Golaghat celebrated the 4th International Day of Yoga on Thursday. The NSS volunteers first participated in the yoga session at the Indoor stadium organised by District Sports Association. The programme included speech on the importance of yoga by the programme officer Sushmita Bora Rongpipi.

GAURISAGAR: The International Yoga Day was observed at Teok High School premises under the aegis of Teok Town Committee, Jorhat in association with voluntary organization Rengani, a hope . Subrat Ranjan Dutta and Ujjal Das took part the programme as a trainer. Notably two foreigners Stive and Kathrine hailing from Australia took part in the programme. Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Chairman of Teok Nagar Samiti Rofique Uj Jaman, along with other 200 people took part.
