DIBRUGARH: "Germany is the third most popular study destination for the students of the world and more than 20,000 Indian students are presently studying in Germany. A recent survey results that more than 80 per cent international students are satisfied with the standard of education offered in Germany," said Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, Principal of DHS Kanoi College, while inaugurating an international webinar on opportunities for higher education in Germany, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of DHSK College, in association with the Zoological Society of Assam recently.

The webinar was targeted towards the students, research scholars and all the people from the academia who are interested to pursue their higher studies in Germany. The resource person Dr. Arpita Roy Choudhury, staff scientist from Humboldt University, Berlin and co-founder and managing partner, Data Analysis Tools, Germany very elaborately discussed the various areas associated with study and research in Germany. The country is very much favoured by the international students because of its comparatively low cost of living as compared to other European countries. She also said that the graduate schools in Germany were helpful in grooming the personality of the students. Dr Roy Choudhury also appreciated the efforts of the college authority towards conducting this type of webinar for the benefit of the students. She said that scholarships to study in Germany were available in abundance, only thing needed was the willingness and effort in developing the required qualifications towards the desired programme. Industries and companies invest a lot in research activities; even the oil companies themselves recruit people for research work, she added.

Dr. PriyabrataLahkar, president of ZSA, expressed his views on the occasion. Dr. Jogen Chandra Kalita, Professor, Gauhati University and academic advisor, DHSK College, thanked the resource person for the informative talk benefitting the aspirants of higher studies in Germany. He also expressed his satisfaction over the initiative of the college in developing awareness and interest among the students towards international collaboration in study and research.

Dr. Sultana Hazarika, president of ZSA unit, DHSK College, was the coordinator of the webinar. Participants from different parts of India joined the webinar and the very interactive question-answer session of the enthusiastic participants made the session very lively.
