SIVASAGAR: The department of Geography, Gargaon College, Sivasagar organized an international webinar recently on the topic 'Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System: Its future prospects'.

It was coordinated by Dr DilipKyumar Deka, Associate Professor of the department, where Dr KiranmaySarma, Associate Professor of School of Environment Management, GGS Indraprastha University, New Delhi was resource person, Dr Rana Hawlaer, Senior Process Engineer, Applied Materials Inc. California, USA was keynote speaker, and Dr Bhaskar Jyoti Bhuyan, Chemist-IV, Applied Materials Inc. California, took part as an appointed speaker for the event.

Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal, Gargaon College inaugurated the webinar held in Zoom platform. The keynote speaker of the event Dr Rana Hawlader, an alumnus of Gargaon College, recalled his college days and experiences. With the aid of present technology available, he urged youngsters to be more dedicated towards their career. Dr BhaskarjyotiBhuyan, the appointed speaker for the event, shared his experiences with the students and research scholars as to how he made his way to California based on his primary education at Chabua, Dibrugarh. He also urged the new generation to be motivated, dedicated and hard-working.

Delivering the speech on the topic of the webinar, Dr KiranmaySarma, Associate Professor of Indraprastha University, New Delhi, vividly explained the present day use of remote sensing technology in the study of natural resources.
