International Yoga Day celebrated across Assam

KALAIGAON: Nehru Yuva Kendra of Udalguri celebrated International Yoga Day through various activities in Udalguri district on Monday in its office campus, along with Yogasana Sports Association. On the occasion, Debraj Sapkota was felicitated as Yoga Guru for his contribution to promote yoga throughout Udalguri district. He also demonstrated some yoga asanas. More than 4,000 people took part in International Yoga Day programme.

PATHSALA: Along with the rest of the world, the 7th International Yoga Day was observed in Pathsala by the BJP Bajali district committee in the party office. A yoga session was organized in the morning where different asanas of yoga were demonstrated by the invited yoga instructor. The party workers participated in the programme by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Yoga trainer Smita Parashar said, "This is a tough time for people across the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Yoga is a great tool to help improve respiratory health and immunity."

KOKRAJHAR: The International Day of Yoga, 2021 was observed in various parts of Chirang district. The main programme was held at Kajalgaon district parade ground under the aegis of Chirang district administration. Attending as a participant, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Chirang, Ajit Kumar Sarmah inaugurated the event in the presence of other officials and staff of the district administration. In his short speech, ADC Sarmah spoke about the importance of doing yoga every day for the wellness of the body and mind, as well as for the society in general.

TINSUKIA: The 7th International Day of Yoga was observed at the office of the SDO (Civil) Margherita. Palash Rajkumar Ahom, ADC i/c, after lighting the ceremonial lamp spoke about the importance of yoga in the context of the prevailing COVID pandemic situation. Sandeep Agarwal of PatanjaliYoga Samiti, Margherita conducted the session where all officers and staff along with few faculties from Margherita College participated.

The Yoga & Personality Development Cell and NSS of Sadiya College, in collaboration with its IQAC cell, organized a yoga session virtually which was inaugurated by Sumeet Sharma, Superintendent of Police of Sadiya police district. The yoga session was conducted jointly by Laltu Das, district secretary of Patanjali Yog Samiti, and Rumi Borpatragohain, district secretary of Mahila Yog Samiti of Dhemaji district.

Golaghat: Golaghat district civil administration celebrated 7th International Yoga Day on Monday in Golaghat District Sports Indoor stadium in a befitting manner by maintaining COVID protocol. Neraj Kumar Singh, Second-in-Command 142 BN CRPF, along with 20 jawans took part in the programme. Manavendra Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, delivered speech on the importance of yoga in human life and the day concluded with distribution of sweets among the participants. On the other hand, 142 BN Jonaki Nagar also celebrated International Yoga Day. Commandant Bharat Kumar Vaishnav said that regular yoga helped in providing physical and mental stability as well as boosting immunity.

DOOMDOOMA: Rupai Battalion of Indian Army under Spear Corps observed the 7th International Yoga Day on Monday. All ranks of the battalion came together to participate in the coveted event and took a pledge to always remain physically and mentally healthy. As a prologue to the Yoga Day celebration, various events like poster making competition and quiz related to Yoga were also organized over a week-long schedule. The youths from NSS also came together to join hands in learning Yoga. The event presented them an opportunity to interact with the Army personnel.

Haflong: With the rest of world, the 7th International Yoga Day was observed in various parts of Dima Hasao on Monday. North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Chief Executive Member (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa, along with his council members like Executive Members, Samuel Changsan, Lalremsiama Darnei, MACs Ratan Jarambusa, Projit Hojai and chairman and vice-chairman of Umrangso Municipal Board, celebrated International Yoga Day in midst of nature at Umrangso.

CEM Debolal Gorlosa, who is a health conscious person himself, has always inspired people for a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle. He said that a healthy and fresh mind could always deliver good and constructive result towards the well-being of the society.

Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua also celebrated International Yoga Day in the fresh surroundings of Haflong Circuit House with the officials of both the district administration and police administration.

LAKHIMPUR: Along with the rest of the globe, the Lakhimpur district administration celebrated Yoga Day on Monday. On this occasion, the programme was organized in the auditorium of Lakhimpur Girls' Higher Secondary School in association with the Directorates of AYUSH, Sports and Youth Welfare, Patanjali Yoga Samiti following COVID-19 protocol from 6:30am. The agenda of the programme started with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by ADC Geetali Duworah. District Nodal Officer of AYUSH, Dr. Suresh Dutta delivered the welcome address and explained the importance of yoga practice for holistic development. Circle Officer of North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle Dhrubajyoti Hatibaruah, Principal Anil Saikia, social activist Rajesh Malpani, officers and employees of the district administration were present in the programme.

On the other hand, the National Service Schem (NSS) of Dhakuakhana College, Homen Borgohain Trust (Nyas), Dhakuakhana observed the International Yoga Day at the Trust office. Homen Borgohain Trust secretary Sewok Chandra Chutiya inaugurated the programme by highlighting the benefits of yoga practice. On this occasion, a yoga training camp was organized wherein the training was conducted by yoga instructors Sarbananda Sonowal and Mampi Biswas. Dhakuakhana Normal School also observed the day by organizing various programmes.
