LAKHIMPUR: Laying stress upon the theme "Yoga for Humanity", the 8th International Yoga Day was celebrated across Lakhimpur district by various organizations and institutions with due enthusiasm on Tuesday. The Lakhimpur district administration and AYUSH observed the International Yoga Day at Indoor Stadium of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) in collaboration with IYNS and Akankhya Yoga and Wellness Centre. Labour, Tea Tribe Welfare Minister-cum-Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur Sanjay Kishan attended the event as chief guest who inaugurated the programme by lighting up the ceremonial lamp. In his lecture, the Minster threw light on the importance of yoga in holistic development. On the other hand Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka, Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan attended the event as guest of honour along with the officers of the district administration. In the programme, mass yoga demonstration was conducted by yoga instructor Munindra Neog. In the same programme, prizes were given away by the chief guest to the winners of the Yogasana competition organized by AYUSH and IYNS.
TINSUKIA: The 8th edition of the International Yoga Day was observed across the Tinsukia district. In Margherita, the event was organised by the Margherita Sub-Divisional (Civil) Administration in collaboration with the Indian Oil Corporation Digboi at Bihutoli under IOCL(AOD) Digboi. Palash RajkumarAhom, ADC i/c, Margherita lighted the ceremonial lamp along with Moniram Kalita, Nodal Officer, AYUSH, Tinsukia and other administrative officials.
Yog Guru Deep Acharjee and his team demonstrated the asanas to all the participating audience and highlighted the importance of the Yogic asanas in everyday life to build strength and maintain harmony in both body and mind. Few students training under the Yog Guru also demonstrated advanced yoga poses for the audience. More than 200 people from government establishments under Margherita Sub-division, IOCL Digboi, Coal India Margherita, media persons and students from Margherita College, Digboi Womens' College and AOD Nursing College, Digboi enthusiastically participated in the yoga session.
The Tinsukia district administration organised the programme at Manav Kalyan Bhawan. Narsing Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia inaugurated the event with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The event witnessed participation of Brahmakumari Tinsukia, Art of Living Tinsukia, Patanjali Yoga Pith, Gurudwara Sahib, Chamber of Commerce Tinsukia besides officials of district administration and JayantaBaruah chairman TMB.
GOLAGHAT : International Day of Yoga was celebrated in Golaghat on Tuesday by the district administration in association with National Ayush Mission, Golaghat at Golaghat Indoor Cricket Stadium. Minister for Agriculture Atul Bora inaugurated the programme and took part in the yoga session. Chief Yoga trainer Dipak Gogoi and his team instructed the participants. The Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat Mrigesh Narayan Borua, Orpah Baglary, DDC Golaghat, Sumit Sharma, SP Golaghat and district heads of all departments, 142 battalion of CRPF, officials & staff of various departments and students participated in the event.
KOKRAJHAR: Yoga Day was jointly organized by the district administration and Patanjali Yogpeeth, Kokrajhar at KDSA indoor stadium where good number of participants took part. Joining the Yoga Day, the CEM of BTC Pramod Boro said, "Yoga is needed everyday for all people to stay fit. People remain busy all the day. Their body needs relaxation. Yoga is the best medicine to get ride of all diseases and it helps people to stay strong and fit." He also said a person needs a sound health and mind to serve the society and the nation.
On the vandalism of Mosque at Dholmara in Salakatini recently, he said the police had been investigating the matter and they are taking all measures to nab the miscreants.
Replying to questions, Boro said many roads and embankments had been breached in the recent spat of flood in BTC region besides taking lives and damaging properties. He said the council will provide a sum of Rs. 1 lakh each to next of kin who lost lives in the flood and for repairing road and bridges and other infrastructures he has taken up the matter with the government of India and Assam. He assured all helps to the affected people.
NALBARI: Yoga Day was celebrated on Tuesday at Sri Sri Bilweswar Devalaya, Belsor in Nalbari by Nalbari district administration. The programme was attended by 59 LAC MLA and Cabinet Minister of Public Health Engineering, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship and Tourism department Jayant Malla Baruah, Deputy Commissioner Gitimani Phukan and Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Assam Laya Madhuri among other dignitaries.
NAGAON: With a daylong programme, Nagaon Zila Yoga Santha in association with several organizations as well as institutions of Nagaon observed the 8th International Day of Yoga here at Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nagaon on Tuesday.
The programme was initiated with the demonstration of various yoga exercises led by prominent sportsman and well sports organizer and coach - Prabhat Chandra Borah in the morning session where over hundred of participants from various educational institutions of Nagaon town took part and also focused on the motto as well as the spirit of the celebration of the day - 'Yoga for humanity'. Besides, the organizers also conducted a host of yoga based sports competitions among the students.
During the open session held in the afternoon at the open auditorium of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nagaon, the organization also distributed various prizes among the winners.
GOSSAIGAON: Gossaigaon sub-division too observed the World Yoga Day with great fervoyr. 31st Battalion SSB Gossaigaon organized Yoga Day in which about 185 personnel of 31st Bn SSB along with family members of the jawans participated. In this event CRPF personnel, Forest Deptt officials and school children of Bhomarabil High School also participated. Sh. Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, Commandant, 31 Bn SSB Gossaigaon delivered the motivational speech on yoga and importance of personal life. It not only improves the body but also mind and the spirit, he said.
DIBRUGARH : BCPL celebrated the 8th International Day of Yoga at BCPL here on Tuesday by taking up various activities to observe the occasion. A yoga session was organized on Tuesday morning where different asana/postures of yoga were demonstrated by invited yoga instructor Pranab Kumar Nath ,Assistant Director (News) All India Radio, Dibrugarh (AIR) at Family Welfare Center, BCPL CISF Township Dibrugarh.
Employees along with their family members, CISF personnel actively participated in the programme and performed 39 asanas. Yoga instructors also showed various Asanas, explaining their importance and benefits to the participants. Reep Hazarika,Managing Director BCPL, Pruthiviraj Dash, Director (Finance) and R.K Singh, Chief Operating Officer, T.Haokip, Deputy Commandant, CISF of the company and other senior officials were also present during the session.
In order to celebrate International Yoga Day in a befitting manner, activities like online quizzes, slogan writing, poster making, essay writing, etc. were organized for employees, contract workers, spouses and children of BCPL to create awareness on yoga practice.
Motivational speaker, Diganta Biswa Sarma who graced the occasion, delivered an awareness talk on the importance and benefits of Yoga. Banners were displayed in various locations on the theme of International Day of Yoga, 'Yoga for humanity.'.
