International Youth Day observed by Kokrajhar based local NGO NEDAN Foundation

Kokrajhar: NEDAN Foundation, a local NGO based at Kokrajhar, on Monday observed International Youth Day with the theme ‘Youth against Human Trafficking’. More than 300 youths of Kokrajhar district participated in the programme. The programme was held in the presences of Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Partha P Majumdar.

The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the invited guest, Trigunesh Narzary, Research Scholar, Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, NIT, Nagaland  and lead vocalist of Kiratas Band. Pankaj Mazumdar, co-founder and Chief Technical Officer, Wistech (a unit of code bits technologies LLP), Litan Roy, co-founder and role operation, Wistech, and Morin Daimary, convener of Jothumma, were invited as Youth Icons for the programme.

Cultural activities were performed by the children from Destination Girls’ Home and youths from New Bashbari, Joypur. Students of Gossaigaon College, Janata College, Bodofa UN College, Dotma, Jamduar Junior College, Kokrajhar College and Bodoland University along with the DC took part in the signature campaign to prevent human trafficking and raised awareness about its negative effects in the locality.
