MANGALDAI: “The wives and daughters of the ‘Men in Khaki’ residing in Mangaldai Police Reserve should get themselves involved in various skill development activities like pickle and cake making, bee keeping, organic farming, vermicompost making, weaving etc not only to earn alternative livelihood but also to utilize their valuable extra times. Mangaldai Police Reserve has a vast fertile area lying unused. It is high time and need of the hour that the police wives should unite under one umbrella in the form of a cooperative and the district police will offer all possible support and cooperation in their community venture ,” said Darrang superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan while addressing a specially arranged meeting of the police wives in the conference hall of the Police Reserve on Friday.

With the novel idea to get the police wives in creative and productive activities, the Superintendent of Police himself had convened the meeting where all the police wives living in the Police Reserve took part with tremendous enthusiasm. Significantly, this meeting coincides with the celebration of ‘International Day of Happiness’ to find a better way to find the happiness in creative and productive activities.

Taking part in the meeting organized for the first time in the district police reserve, eminent motivator of organic entrepreneurs and retired Additional Director of Industries and Commerce Prafulla Kumar Saikia gave a detailed picture on transforming the police wives into a successful entrepreneur. “It is the need of the hour that we all should concentrate on multi cropping and organic farming. The police wives sparing extra times from their busy schedule of household activities can easily get involved in small scale industries adopting the latest technology which will surely transform them into successful entrepreneur,” he added.

Mediaperson Bhargab Kumar Das also took part in the meeting and offered some suggestions. “We salute the spirit of the Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan for his unique initiative to involve the police wives in such activities. With the successful implantation of this initiative, Mangaldai Police Reserve no doubt will become an ideal hub of organic farming and other creative and productive activities to make the police wives self sufficient,” he said.
