IOCL depriving local candidates in recruitment, alleges student organizations

Bongaigaon, June 1: “Indian Oil Corporation Limited is depriving local candidates in case of recruitment,” claimed five student organizations of Assam on Wednesday.

Representatives of All Assam Students’ Union, Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad, All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union, All Bodo Students’ Union and All BTAD Minorities Students’ Union called on the Maging Director of IOCL, BGR and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

Talking to media persons, the representatives of the student organizations said that since a long time that the IOCL administration had been depriving local candidates in terms of recruitment in third and fourth class jobs of the company.

“We told them that unemployment is a major problem of Assam. This unemployment leads and inspires the youth to adopt the path of terrorism. So, to solve such kind of major problems, IOCL should make a policy to give 100 per cent recruitment to local candidates in case of Group III and Group IV jobs. But we have noticed that instead of recruiting local candidates, the IOCL administration tends to recruit staff from other States of India, mostly from Bihar and UP. We strongly oppose this and warn IOCL administration that if they do not make a policy to recruit locals, then we will launch a massive democratic agitation in the coming days,” they said.

In this regard they submitted a memorandum to the chairman of IOCL through the Maging Director of IOCL, BGR. Copy of this memorandum has been sent to the Chief Minister and the Governor of Assam.
