Irate mob set ablaze house of alleged rapist under Baghjan PS

TINSUKIA: The Diamoolie TE under Baghjan PS is tense after an irate mob set ablaze the dwelling house of an alleged rapist.

Police also resorted to blank fire to disperse the agitating crowd who also gheraoed the Baghjan PS demanding the arrest of the culprit. Though police prevented his house from getting burnt, his two-wheelers were completely gutted.

According to reports, one Agrum Ali alias Sahabuddin Khan of Diamoolie TE took a school girl of the same tea estate to Kolkata on some pretext and after allegedly raping her, left her at the airport. She reached Diamoolie TE on Saturday and narrated the incident to her parents. Though parents of the missing girl had earlier lodged an FIR against him, the Baghjan police allegedly did not take any action. The local people alleged that Ali was involved in women trafficking.
