Irregularities alleged in selection of Orunodai scheme beneficiaries in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Massive irregularities have been alleged in the selection of the beneficiaries of the Orunodai scheme under several gaon panchayats in Dhakuakhana subdivision of Lakhimpur district.

Protesting against such irregularities that allegedly happened at Dangdhora Gaon Panchayat under Dhakuakhana Development Block, over thousand aggrieved people burnt the effigy of local MLA and State P&RD Minister Naba Kumar Doley on Saturday.

The protesters also blocked the way to the Panchayat office for several hours shouting slogans against BJP leaders. They demanded Naba Kumar Doley to stop his 'interference' in the selection of beneficiaries of the panchayat schemes and to delete the names of bogus and non-eligible beneficiaries of Orunodai scheme. The protest programme was organized under the aegis of the local bodies of Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK), Mising Mimag Kebang (MMK) and Takam Mising Mime Kebang (TMMK).
