A CORRESPONDENT

KALAIGAON: The deprived LPG distributorship applicants of places like Barbalisitha (Khoirabari block), Nonaipara TE (Nonaikhuti VCDC), Majuli TE (Santipur) in Udalguri district have alleged that the selection process was not full proof against manipulation.

It may be recalled that Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) had invited applications for 93 new LPG distributorship in Assam, of which six are in Udalguri district. While a good number of educated youths submitted applications for the same, the three Oil authorities announced selection list recently.

But the deprived applicants of the places mentioned above have openly expressed their grievance in respect of the selection procedure. It needs mention that Majuli TE was reserved for ST, Nonaipara TE was open for all and Barbalisitha was reserved for woman. Lottery was drawn by the oil authorities for the selection of the distributors at Hojai town on August 2. The deprived applicants have alleged that the computerized lucky draws were conducted suspiciously. The deprived candidates have already lodged complaints before the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, Deputy General Manager of LPG Region of Kolkata, Chief Area Manager of Indane Area Office, Guwahati and Chief Territory Manager of Bharat Petroleum Ltd, Guwahati demanding for fresh selection of LPG distributorship for the three disputed locations of Udalguri district.
