Jagiroad banks flout Assam Town and Country Planning Act
A CORRESPONDENT

JAGIROAD: The banks of Jagiroad area have been allegedly flouting the Assam Town and Country Planning Act, 1959 (as amended). Sources here said that as per the provision of the act, no financial institute can sanction house loan to any individual in Jagiroad master plan area without the approved plan issued by the Jagiroad Development Authority (JDA).

However, it is alleged that many of the banks in Jagiroad are sanctioning house building loans to many individuals without the approved plan issued by the JDA. This has jeopardized the very objective of the authority.

It is further learnt that the JDA intimated all the banks in Jagiroad regarding the Act but the bank officials are turning a deaf ear to the matter. In this condition if the JDA move for demolition of such buildings and takes action as per the Act, the situation will harass all such building owners as well as the bank officials.
