Jamuguri Police Station brought under Sonitpur district

Biswanath Chariali: The Jamuguri police station under Biswanath Police District has been brought under the jurisdiction of the Superintendent of Police of Sonitpur district. The Department of Home (A), Government of Assam, has notified it vide order number HMA -303/2018/17 dated December 16, 2019. Accordingly, the Directorate of Assam Police has instructed the Superintendents of Police of Biswanath and Sonitpur districts to take necessary action in this regard through letter no W/X/26/2014/113 dated December 19, 2019.

Jamuguri police station was brought under Biswanath police district when it was created in 2014, but later the areas falling under Jamuguri police station remained with Sonitpur district when the new Biswanath revenue district was formed resulting in much inconvenience to the common public.
