KOKRAJHAR: Jana Chetna Mancha, Assam (JCMA), Kokrajhar district committee on Tuesday hailed the government of Assam and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for carrying out an eviction drive against the illegal encroachers in Dholpur, Sipajhar, Darrang district and said that a similar eviction drive should be carried out against illegal encroachers across the State.

The JCMA took a small rally at Kokrajhar near Children Park in support of the eviction drive against illegal encroachers. They shouted slogans against encroachers to free lands of indigenous people from illegal settlers in every corner to ensure the safety and security of indigenous communities of the State.

Talking to reporters, Gautam Basumatary, a leader of the JCMA said the eviction drive against illegal encroachers in Dholpur by the government of Assam was praiseworthy and at the same time the government should carry out similar action everywhere and must free lands of indigenous people from the illegal occupation of aliens. He also said encroachments were going on in various places of Bodo belts and other tribal areas which should be evicted at the earliest.
