Jayanta Malla Baruah Appointed as Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Assam

GUWAHATI: Assam Bharatiya Party leader Jayanta Malla Baruah has been appointed as the Political Secretary to the leader of the BJP Legislative Party (Chief Minister of Assam).

In a tweet, Baruah wrote, " would like to thank the Hon'ble State President and Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam as well as the party leaders for giving me such an important responsibility. In the days to come I promise to carry out my responsibilities diligently with the blessings of everyone."

Addressing the media BJP President Ranjeet Dass said that earlier Bimal Bora served as the Secretary of the legislature party and now Jayanta Malla Baruah has been appointed for the post.

Jayanta Malla Baruah was born on October 23, 1971 at Tihu, Nalbari. He is 49 years old. His father's name is Late Kailash Mallah Baruah who was a renowned writer and his mother's name is Kamini Baruah. He belongs to the well-known ChankuchiyaMallaBujar Baruah family of Lower Assam. He got married in 2002 to Julee Deka Baruah and the couple is blessed with one son and one daughter.

In the 2011 Assam Assembly elections, Jayanta Malla Baruah (INC) won with 39896 votes defeating AlakaSarmaof AGP who secured 31673 votes.

In 2015 Jayanta Malla left Congress (INC) and joined BJP. This year in the 2021 elections contested on a BJP ticket from the Nalbari constituency and won with an absolute majority.

Earlier Jayanta Malla Baruah was also holding the position of Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) chairman.
