GUWAHATI : Assam girl Jintimoni Kalita got selected in the Indian Cricket Team under-19. She is placed under team-A for the quadrangular Women's Tournament. Earlier this year it was noted that 5 girls from Assam were selected for the Under-19 Coaching Camp which was conducted by the National Cricket Academy.

 Khushi Sharma, Jintimoni Kalita, Rupasree Saikia, Amontika Munda and Maine Payeng were the selected players from Assam. This news was shared by Assam Cricket Association on April 30th. Amongst them, Jintimoni Kalita from Mangaldoi qualified for the Quadrangular Women's Under-19 T20 Series. The Quadrangular series will feature India A, India B, West Indies and Sri Lanka.

The event will start from 13th of November 2022 and will last till 19th November. Twelve nations are selected for the main tournament including India, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe and United States.

Jintimoni Kalita if selected in the Quadrangular series will participate in the mega event T20 2022. This is going to be the first ever edition of the U-19 T20 World Cup for women. According to reports, the mega event will be held in South Africa. 

Jintumoni Kalita is a permanent resident of Mangaldoi, Assam. She was born on 25th December, 2003. Jintimoni was always passionate about sports, specially cricket. Hence, started her practice in 2017 and represented Assam in various states of India since in 2018. She represented Assam in states like Madhya Pradesh, Bangalore and Rajasthan. She mentions about this in an interview. Jintimoni also stated that her main goal is to acquire a position in the Indian Cricket Team. She got her training from Mr. Ramchiary in her initial days. Jintimoni started off from practicing in Mangaldoi along with few other students. She speaks about these in an interview for a regional channel.

Assam Cricket Association (ACA) said in a Facebook post, "We are glad to announce that one of our players – #JintimoniKalita – has been selected to represent the India U-19 A Team in the Quadrangular Women's Tournament, slated to be held at Vizag from November 13, 2022 to November 19, 2022.  The tournament, being hosted by BCCI, will be played among India (U-19 A and U-19 B), Sri Lanka and West Indies".
