NEW DELHI: In an IED explosion that happened in the Rajouri, Jammu, village of Dhangri, a child died and five other persons were hurt. The explosion happened at the location of a suspected terrorist strike that left four individuals dead yesterday evening.

"A bomb occurred close to the residence where the initial shooting event occurred. There are 5 people hurt. Injuries have claimed the life of one youngster. Yet another crucial thing. We ask that you exercise caution, media persons. There has been another IED sighting that is being investigated. Self with div com and IG CRPF arriving at the scene," said Mukesh Singh, a second director general of police.

According to eyewitnesses, the shooters arrived on the scene in the automobile and opened fire randomly before escaping. Deepak Kumar, Satish Kumar, Pritam Lal, and Shiv Pal were named as the deceased. Pawan Kumar, Rohit Pandit, Saroj Bala, Sushil Kumar, Shub Sharma, and Urvashi Sharma were among those hurt.

Several armed individuals arrived in a car, according to eyewitnesses, and started firing before driving away. A December 28 encounter in Sidhra, on the outskirts of Jammu, had preceded the shooting. Security personnel killed four terrorists, preventing a terror strike, they claimed. They were also found to be in possession of seven AK assault weapons, one M4 rifle, three handguns, and a significant amount of ammunition.

Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor, denounced the terror attack and offered ex-gratia to the families of the victims. "The next of kin of each person killed in the heinous attack would receive an ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lacks and a government job. Seriously injured people will receive Rs. 1 lakh. The L-office G's tweeted that officials had been ordered to make sure injured people get the best care possible.

Mehbooba Mufti, a former chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir, denounced the tragedy and blamed the BJP for the killings. "Condemn this cowardly act & condolences to their families. Despite being under BJP rule & its bogus claims of ending militancy, violence continues unabated. Had J&K had its own elected government, the same media would have hauled them over the coals", a tweet read by the People's Democratic Party chief.
