TINSUKIA: More than 100 excess teachers in high schools across Assam including 34 in Tinsukia district whose names District Mission Coordinators of SSA refrained from forwarding in UDISE (Unified District Information System) sheet due to wrong interpretation of Mission Director's order are in the verge of losing their jobs apprehending termination by school authorities after the Education Department initiated the process to provincialize services of 215 and more teachers on the basis of UDISE.

The then Mission Director Aruna Rajoria in her order vide NosSSA/MIS/ADCD/747/2003/Pt- II/ 1960 of 21.3.2015 categorically directed the District Mission Coordinators not to include the name of irregularly/illegally appointed teachers in UDISE 2014-15 and nowhere it stated anything about excess teachers that remained implied, the then District Mission Coordinators including Tinsukia on the other hand either failed to spell out the meaning of the order or deliberately victimized the long serving teachers.

The Education Department had provincialized several high schools wef 1.1.2013 and regularized the services of in an average of 8-9 persons in each school that included 6 teachers for Arts, Science and Elective Hindi/ Sanskrit and 3 administrative staff including headmaster on the basis of enrolment and date of appointment. In the process, a good number of teachers were left out where enrolment was high and more than desired proportion. The government then assured the deprived teachers that their services would be provincialized in phased manner, with that assurance many teachers either have attained superannuation or at the fanged of their profession. A headmaster of such school said had the District Mission Coordinator acted in proper manner, the teachers would not have been facing this plight now. The teachers on being instructed by subsequent Inspector of schools submitted relevant documents several times and committed to pursue the matter but now it appeared that they gave false assurances in all these years, teachers alleged.
