BOKAKHAT: Joganananda Dev Satradhikar Goswami College (JDSG College) celebrated its 61st Foundation Day with grandeur and enthusiasm at its campus on Friday. The day-long celebration featured a series of events including tributes, competitions, and the announcement of upcoming Diamond Jubilee closing events.
The celebration began with the hoisting of the college flag by vice principal Dipali Rajkumar. A solemn memorial tribute ceremony followed, led by Associate Professor Prashanta Saikia. Vidyananda Dev Goswami, the junior Satradhikar of Kuruwabahi Satra, offered a floral tribute to the statue of the college’s founding donor.
A major highlight of the day was a district-level quiz competition inaugurated by the Vice Principal. Seventeen teams from various institutions across the district took part in the contest, organized by Political Science faculty members Shashank Dhaval Saikia and Akashjyoti Sharma.
In the tightly contested quiz, Hemanta Bora and Konkita Devi from Deboraj Roy College, Golaghat, claimed the first prize. JDSG College’s Minakshi Saikia and Bharati Hazarika came second, while two teams from the host college — Aryaneel Kashyap with Anshika Bora, and Sayanika Dutta with Nilotpurna Devi — jointly secured third place.
Cash prizes and certificates of merit were awarded to the winners in a prize distribution ceremony graced by several dignitaries, including former principal Dr. Babulal Mour, former professor Kamal Gogoi, former librarian Srimanta Madhav Bora, and Professor Dr. Shanti Chaya Baruah.
Adding to the excitement, the college announced that the concluding ceremony of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations is scheduled to take place on October 16 and October 17.
