Joint demonstration against farm bills, Electricity Act

Bongaigaon: Along with the other parts of the country, mass demonstration was staged on Friday at Bongaigaon by CITU, Krishak Sabha, DYFI and SFI jointly.

Their demands included abolishment of the farm bills, abolishment of the new Electricity Act and many other demands. Parimal Chakraborty, district secretary of CPM, Hareswar Das from CITU and many other leaders along with several hundred picketers staged the demonstration.

Addressing the gathering, Hareswar Das said that on November 26, the farmers' agitation against the three farm bills had started. "On completion of one year of the agitation today, we staged this demonstration countrywide. Already more than 700 farmers have been martyred in this agitation. The Prime Minister has announced for abolishment of the three farm laws. We welcome his decision and demand for the passing of this decision in the Parliament," he said. They submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Prime Minister of India through the Deputy Commissioner of Bongaigaon.
