Joint Indo-Bangladesh white Water Rafting Expedition Flagged off in Arunachal Pradesh

Tezpur: In an effort of strengthening the bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh, a joint White Water Expedition is planned on the Siyom River at Along, Arunachal Pradesh from 16 March to 18 March 2019. A joint expedition is headed by Lieutenant Colonel B N Jha of the Indian Army.

The expedition team comprises of two officers, one Junior Commissioned Officer and seven Other Ranks, each from both the nations. This three day long expedition is planned from Thumbin village in Kaying Sub- Division of Arunachal Pradesh upto Pangin village in Pangin Sub-Division. The total distance of 85 kilometers will be covered by the team in challenging waters of Siyom River, where the Expedition Team would encounter Grade 2 & 3 rapids.

The expedition team carried out training, basic preparations and planning for a period of a week at Along Military Station. The Along Military Station is coordinating this joint expedition. The expedition is scheduled to be culminated on 18 March 2019 at Pangin. In a Flagging Off Ceremony conducted at Thumbin, Major General Ajai Verma, General Officer Commanding, 56 Infantry Division flagged off the expedition. During the Flagging Off Ceremony Brigadier C Dayalan, Commander 5 Infantry Brigade and other dignitaries were also present.
