Jorhat district administration gears up for distribution of essential items

JORHAT: Following the Assam Government’s decision to distribute free rice, dal, oil and salt to daily wage workers throughout the State under National Food Security (NFS) scheme, the Jorhat district administration has geared up to package the items and distribute them ward and block wise so that no such families in the district are deprived of the essential items, said Roshni Aparanji Korati, the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, on Tuesday. The DC said all Circle Officers along with designated Additional Deputy Commissioners, block development officers and mandals, SK are preparing for the distribution which will start from 9 am on April 1. On the other hand, sale of vegetables and home delivery of essential items have started so that people do not face any problem during the lockdown period, said Bipul Kumar Das, Additional Deputy Commissioner who is in charge of Food and Civil Supply.
