JORHAT: In a major crackdown, Jorhat Police raided the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) office following charges of irregularities in the recruitment process. The raid was preceded by the DTE's neglect in responding to repeated notices issued by the police on the issue.

It has been reported that in 2021, three candidates were allegedly recruited through illegal means, violating set recruitment procedures. The matter was brought to the fore when aggrieved candidates filed a formal complaint with Jorhat Police, and the authorities filed a case and initiated an investigation.

Even after issuing three notices for clarification of the allegations, the Directorate remained silent. The current director, Dhruva Jyoti Bora, also did not respond to the questions, prompting police to take a stronger response by raiding the office. The recruitment irregularities allegedly took place during the previous Director Mousumi Baruah's time in 2021.

The police raid is intended to provide evidence and further probe the allegations of illegal hiring practices at the DTE. The authorities are determined to make the recruitment process transparent and accountable, as they attempt to settle the complaints of the affected candidates and maintain the integrity of the hiring process.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more developments are expected as the police proceed with their investigation.
