

Karbi Anglong: The re-polling for the two stations of Duar Amla Council Constituency is underway in the West Karbi Anglong district.
After the violence broke out in these stations of the constituency, the Assam State Election Commission on Thursday thus announced a re-poll in these two polling stations.
The violence broke out when an angry mob had destroyed the ballot boxes alleging foul actions by the polling officials. Subsequently, the security personnel present there blank fired to disperse the violent mob.
In the council's elections that were held on Wednesday, 154 candidates were in the fray. The BJP participated in all the 26 seats, while the Congress battled for 24 seats.
Besides this, AAP contested for 102 seats and the CPIL (ML) stood for 15, among others.
According to the State Election Commission, 77.96 percent of voting was recorded.
