TANGLA: The 65th Filmfare Awards Ceremony scheduled to be held in Guwahati in February has been opposed by a chief advisor of All Assam Student's Union (AASU ) Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharjya.

Attending the first day of Kalaguru Sangeet Mahotsav 2020 hosted by Zubeen Garg at Tangla H.S playground in Tangla town of Udalguri district on Friday Bhattacharjya said the Filmfare Awards Ceremony has been organized as a part of government's attempt to divert people's attention from anti-CAA Agitation across Assam.

Expressing his resentment on the awards ceremony to be held on February 15 in Guwahati, Bhattacharjya said, "We are not against the artists from Mumbai. But the matter to ponder over is that government has donated Rs. 30 lakh to a private event and if required they will offer more donation." "Jyoti Prasad Agarwala was the first filmmaker of Assam. Has this organization done anything for Jyoti Prasad? It is a question every common man is asking today" Bhattacharjya questioned.

However Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg came out in support of the Filmfare Awards 2020. He said our protests are not against 'sports' and 'culture' or any 'Filmfare Award'. Some artists have opposed it but it is uncalled for as we must not boycott such extravaganza event because the Bollywood megastars and others will never visit Assam if such events are not held.
