KALAIGAON: Kalaigaon administration converted Kalaigaon College into a COVID-19 exclusive hospital with a total of 40 beds on Tuesday as Biraj Barua, Circle Officer of Kalaigaon revenue circle in Udalguri, continues to ensure preparedness for an outbreak of the viral disease.
According to Barua, there were no available beds in Kalaigaon Model Hospital near Kalaigaon town. So, the administration decided to set up 40 beds in Kalaigaon College to treat patients who might be infected with COVID-19. He added that so far no person in Kalaigaon area has been affected.
Meanwhile, Barua expressed concern that some people were still not taking precautionary measures like wearing masks and maintain social distancing. He urged people to stay indoors during the lockdown or the authority would be forced to take action against such people under section 144 of CrPC.
