Kalaigaon to celebrate Durga Puja without idols

KALAIGAON:Preparations are on in full swing in Kalaigaon to celebrate Durga Puja from Thursday. No idol of Goddess Durga or other gods and goddess will be installed in Kalaigaon this year.

The decision to observe ghot puja and not install idols was taken in a crucial meeting which was held between the district administration and puja committees recently. All the puja committees decided to celebrate the festival without idols due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As per decision, more than 20 Durga Puja committees in Kalaigaon will celebrate the festival as ghot puja and no idols will be brought. No cultural programme and mela will also be organized this year.
