A CORRESPONDENT

KALAIGAON: Kalaigaon Unit of Bengali organizations namely All Assam Bengali Youth Student Federation (AABYSF), National Liberation Force of Bengali(NLFB )and Coordination Committee of Bengali Tiger Force have submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah through Circle Officer of Kalaigaon revenue circle requesting for inclusion of Hindu Bengalis whose name have been rejected from final NRC in Assam. The leaders of Bengali organizations alleged ‘Supplementary Final list of NRC have been declared on August 31, 2019 and 19 lakh names have been excluded from the Final list of NRC.

We firmly believe after due procedure, 99% will be included in the list once again if the process is reviewed again. Present procedure was discriminatory, and has harassed, destroyed Bengali speaking Hindu people mentally and financially. We demand for recertification of these ‘left out 19 lakh’ applicants and include them in NRC again.” The organizations made several demands on behalf of Bengali people in the memorandum. The organizations also staged a three-hour sit-in demonstration in the premise of Kalaigaon Inspection Bungalow on Friday. Several leaders like EM Jagadish Sarkar, Advocate Sahadeb Das, Shyamal Sarkar and Rabin Bala Bishwas spoke in this demonstration programme. More than five thousand people took part in this programme.
