Kaliabor administration prepares to conduct free-and-fair election

KALIABOR: Following the ECI's announcement of the poll notification for the Assembly election in Assam, the Kaliabor Civil subdivision administration in Nagaon district also initiated all arrangements to ensure a free and fair election in the first phase on March 27.

Pabitra Kumar Das of Assam Civil Service, who took over the charge as the Subdivisional Officer (Civil) of Kaliabor on February 26, will also function as the Returning Officer for 89 Kaliabor Legislative Assembly Constituency, to be assisted by Election Officer-cum-Assistant Returning Officer, Barbie Hazarika and other officials.

Meanwhile, the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) led by Circle Officer of Kaliabor Revenue Circle, Antara Sen has already completed the anti-defacement activities in the sub-division area. A total number of 1,44,876 electorates, of which 72,421 are female and 72,449 male and only 6 electorates from the third gender, will take part in this election and will exercise their democratic rights in 89 Kaliabor LAC. A total of 1,306 voters more than 80 years of age and 773 persons with disability will also take part in the ensuing election from their homes in a specially arranged arrangement.

For the smooth management of the entire poll process, a total of 1,032 employees (including the reserved employees) will be engaged in 191 main and 15 auxiliary polling stations (with more than 1,000 electorates). There will be two 'all women' polling stations and two model polling stations in the constituency. The subdivision administration has also specially arranged three booths for the employees of ASEB, BSNL, Police, Health and ASTC who have been categorized in the essential service sector. The Kaliabor subdivisional administration has already earned the reputation of the best election district in the C- Vigil application.

Meanwhile, Subdivisional Officer-cum-Returning Officer Pabitra Kumar Das has appealed to all the electorates of the constituency to exercise their voting right without any fear or pressure. He also assured to provide all facilities and to adopt all initiatives in ensuring a free and fair poll.
