SILCHAR: Refuting the claim made by Sonai MLA Karimuddin Barbhuiyan that at least six Congress MLAs would join AIUDF on September 2, Kamalakha Dey Purkayastha, working president of APCC said, Karimuddin was acting as an agent of the BJP. Another Congress MLA Khaliluddin Mazumdar however said no party MLA from Barak Valley would join AIUDF.
Karimuddin on Wednesday claimed that a good number of Congress MLAs were contemplating to join BJP. But now AIUDF had approached them. "Only AIUDF had opposed CAA, the anti-Assam Accord law initiated by the Saffron party and hence BJP has no scope in minority constituency," maintaining this Karimuddin claimed that the Congress MLAs were now convinced that AIUDF was the best alternative for them.
Reacting sharply to Karimuddin's claim, Karimganj MLA Dey Purkayastha said, AIUDF legislator was never seen raising his voice for his own constituency rather he was busy with Congress. Purkayastha said, Karimuddin had been acting as an agent of the ruling party and at the behest of his Saffron boss he was trying to create confusion in Congress.
