Kamargaon in Numaligarh all set for 89th annual conference of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha

Numaligarh: Preparations for the 89th annual conference of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha are going on in full-swing. The conference will be held at Kamargaon in Numaligarh under Golaghat district.

The annual conference will be held from February 5 to February 8 at Mohura Dihingiya Pothar which has been named as ‘World Heritage Kaziranga Samannay Kshetra’.

People and organizations from various sections of society belonging to various religious and socio-cultural identities are coming forward and contributing towards making the event a grand success. Construction of structures like naamghar, bhujanalay, mandaps and rest rooms has been completed. Hundreds of volunteers are working day and night with full dedication to make the event a great success.

The Guru Aashana was also established in the naamghar at the conference site on January 19. A daily ritual of 3 Bhagawat Prasangas and 14 Prasangas are being held since the establishment of the Guru Aashana. The construction of the flag hoisting platform will be completed in a day or two. The flags of all the 53 district committees of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha along with the main flag of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha will be hoisted at the platform. There will be also a cultural procession on the third day of the conference. Chandrakanta Bhuyan, the secretary of the reception committee, stated that they were also making a giant statue of one-horned rhino near the main entrance gate of the conference site. Bhuyan also stated that almost 10,000 devotees and guests can seat and eat together in the Bhujanalay at a single time.

The reception committee officials also said that the Vice-President of India, Venkaiah Naidu would attend the 89th session of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha. Construction of three helipads is going on. The organizers are expecting that more than 35 lakh devotees to be present at the annual conference of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha this year.
