KOKRAJHAR: Kamatapur Progressive Party (KPP), a political party of the Koch Rajbongshi community, on Tuesday made it clear that they would support the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) candidates in the third phase of assembly election to be held on April 6 in BTR.

In a press conference held at Kokrajhar Press Club, the general secretary of the KPP, Uttam Kr. Ray said that they had decided to extend support to UPPL candidates in the last phase of assembly election. He said that the Bodoland People's Front (BPF)-led government in BTC in the past did not pay attention towards the solution of their problems and demands. The BPF-led by Hagrama Mohilary systematically denied their rights and did not solve their problems, he said, adding that they would give a reply to BPF.

Ray said that they had already discussed their problems with the president of UPPL, Pramod Boro who gave them a patient hearing and assured to find out a solution. He said that they would vote for Lawrence Islary in 30-Kokrajhar East, Monoranjan Brahma in 29-Kokrajhar West, Somnath Narzary in 28-Gossaigaon and Jayanta Basumatary in 31-Sidli constituency. He further said that they would support all official candidates of UPPL in the four districts of BTR and called upon all people to cast their votes for UPPL candidates to bring a new change.
