RANGIA: In the wake of announcement of the dates of the Assam assembly election, the district administration of Kamrup district and the Rangia election district administration convened separate press meets in the respective conference hall , i.e., Amingaon and Rangia where the details of the assembly election for 48 no. Boko, 55 no. Hajo, 49 no. Chhaygoan, 50 no. Palashbari, 57 no. Rangia and 56 no. Kamalpur constituency were discussed.

The election in Boko, Hajo, Chhaygoan and Palashbari constituencies will be conducted by Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Kailash Karthik N as the District Election Officer (DEO). On the other hand, election in Rangia and Kamalpur LACs will be conducted by Swapneel Paul, SDO Civil Rangia, as the District Election Officer.

In the press meet, both the DEOs informed that the model code of conduct had come into effect in the entire district after the announcement of the election notification by the Election Commissioner of India. DEO of Kamrup, Kailash Karthik N and DEO of Rangia, Swapneel Paul said that arrangements had been completed to conduct free and fair polls. They urged the political parties, candidates, officers, staff and people engaged in election duties and the general public to maintain COVID protocol in all election activities. They also instructed the political parties to adhere to the model code of conduct strictly. Any violation of the same will lead to disciplinary action as per the order of the ECI.

According to the DEO of Kamrup, Kailash Karthik N, all total 7,54,745 voters (3,82,321 male and 3,72,424 female) were there in the four constituencies, viz. Boko, Hajo, Chhaygoan and Palashbari under Kamrup district. On the other hand, there are all total 3,72,489 voters (male 1,88,457 and female 1,84,002) in two LACs, viz 56 no. Kamalpur and 57 no. Rangia under Rangia election district.
