KOKRAJHAR: Attending the observation of 79th birth anniversary of Kanakeswar Narzary, the founder secretary of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) and former CEM of the then Bodoland Autonomous Council (BAC), at Kalaigaon in Ramfalbil on Sunday, the Minister of Handloom and Textile, Soil Conservation and Welfare of Bodoland department, UG Brahma asserted that Narzary was the pioneer of the Bodos who had fought for the identity, protection of language, literature and culture.

Brahma said that Narzary was one of the great Bodo pioneers who founded the ABSU and sowed the seed of nationalist spirit among the youths to work for the safeguard, protection of identity, race, history, language and literature and culture. He said he had a lot of contribution in the society which should not be forgotten. He also said that observation of Narzary's birth anniversary was very important for the coming generations and he thanked the ABSU for organizing the anniversary.

The CEM of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro said the vast contributions of Narzary wouldl be remembered forever as he dedicated his life for the identity of the Bodos, protection of its socio-culture, language and political rights. He also said that Narzary founded the ABSU and worked relentlessly for the society. Earlier, the president of the ABSU, Dipen Boro hoisted the organizational flag while wife of Narzary, Hirabai Narzary paid glowing tribute at the portrait of her husband.

The birth anniversary, which was held under the aegis of ABSU, was also attended by BTC EM Ranjit Basumatary, MLAs Lawrence Islary and Jayanta Basumatary and leaders of various organizations.
