DIBRUGARH: As a part of the continuous effort of spreading the fame of Kanoi College at the international level, the college has now selected five academic advisors at the international level.

The advisors are nominated with the aim to receive proper guidance and support for the teachers and students of the college in their efforts towards academic excellence in different areas of education and research, sports, culture, environment and tourism. The Principal of the college, Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia informed that the academic advisors were established educators and researchers from America, Great Britain, Australia Russia and Thailand. This is the result of the relentless efforts of the Principal in pursuit of quality and to establish this institution, which is considered by many as a dream institution among the colleges of Assam, at the international level.

With the initiative of the Principal, the governing body of the college held a meeting on Thursday and approved the matter of appointing international academic advisors. This year the college reached the platinum jubilee year and now the college has received consent from educationists from different parts of the world to act as academic advisors of this college. They are Dr. Achintya Bezbaruah, professor, North Dakota State University (NDSU, USA) and a resident of America; Dr. Sian Waters, founder and director, Barbary Macaque Awareness and Conservation; Mark W. Post, Lecturer in Linguistics, Faculty of Arts and Social Science University of Sydney, Australia; Svetlana Ryzhakova, Leading Research Fellow, Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Russian Academy of Science, Moscow and Dr. Ramesh Zimbo Boonratana, Mahidol University International College, Bangkok. Dr Sian Waters, whose works in the Department of Anthropology, Durham University, Great Britain and also as zoo and aquarium advisor of European Association, has given her fame all over the world along with her untiring efforts towards human-monkey conflict and conservation of nature as a whole.

On the other hand, Dr. Mark W. Post from Australia is continuing his research projects on various subjects with special interest on the study of tribes from different parts of the world, including various tribes from Arunachal Pradesh. Dr. Post is even very fluent in Mishing language. Dr. Achintya Bezbaruah is working in the areas of Environmental Applications of Nanomaterials, Environmental Implications of Nanomaterials, Polymer Applications in Environmental Remediation, Nutrient Recovery and Delivery, Small Community Water and Wastewater Treatment. Dr. Achintya Bezbaruah is also actively engaged with the activities of preservation and conservation of the environment. Dr. Ramesh Zimbo Boonratana of Thailand is working on 'Responsible Tourism' along with his works on protection and preservation of the environment.

One of the famous educationists of Assam, Dr. Jogen Ch. Kalita, Professor, Animal Physiology and Biochemistry and in-charge, office of International Relations, Gauhati University, is also offering continuous support as academic advisor of the college in the process of uplift of its academic activities. With the support and cooperation of all these internationally renowned educationists who will be academic advisors of the college, the college is expected to earn more name and fame in the coming days in the international level.
