HOWRAGHAT: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) accomplished a landmark in empowering the infrastructure of educational sectors in both the council administered autonomous districts on Wednesday.
The council authority has allotted 3,700 bighas of land among 925 educational institutions on an enduring basis for infrastructural development. The scheme, which was pending since 1952, was cleared by Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
Secretary of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Mukul Kathar who took over the charge of the Land and Revenue department of the council last week, put into effect the phenomenal bureaucratic job just within 36 hours after receiving the official go ahead from the Chief Executive Member.
Mukul Kathar informed this correspondent that more than 500 educational establishments, including colleges, higher secondary and lower primary schools will be allocated land by the council authority within a short time.
As of now, each institution has been allotted land ranging from 2 to 12 bighas. He mentioned that many educational institutions are functioning on the allotted lands but now they have been given land ownership.
