

HOWRAGHAT: After around two years, the BJP-led Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) headed by Tuliram Ronghang made a major expansion of its executive committee on Thursday by inducting a veteran and two fresh entries into its fold. The newly-inducted Executive Members include Mongalsing Timung, Horensing Bey and Lunsing Teron. The formal inclusion of the three MACs (Member of Autonomous Council) in the executive committee was ordered vide the notification of the Hill Areas Development Department (N0 HAD.209/2011/Pt/128,Dtd.21st November 2018. With inclusion of the three new faces, the strength of the present executive committee has risen to 14 which is the optimum limit of the 26-member Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
Politically cognizant sections of Karbi Anglong are viewing the expansion as a move to consolidate the party position in the autonomous hill areas of Assam just ahead of the election. Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang held a closed door meeting with his executive committee at the legislative wing of the council secretariat on Thursday to sort-out portfolios for the three Executive Members.
